Listening and Responding to Public Interest
Our next in-person event will take place on January 29, 2026, at the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge. It is called Listening and Responding to Public Interest and will explore how the communication of research in mathematics and data science to non-experts can move away from experts sharing their knowledge with wider audiences to enabling dialogue with these audiences.
We have a range of exciting speakers, from researchers working in AI and climate science, to experts in public engagement and journalists. We will also explore communications training for researchers and next steps for the Network.
More information about the event and a playlist of the talks from the day are available on the event summary page. We have also prepared a resource list arising from the discussions on the day, and data gathered at the event has contributed to our report What does the Mathsci-comm Network look like?.
